Looking at it at first glance, the story behind the most populous film from the Ghibli Production studio which is titled “My Neighbor Totoro” (Myneighbortotoro) is central to the children’s fantasy. In the film, we have Satsuki who is about eleven years old moving with her younger sister called Mei; a four-year old child with their father into an old house in Japan, outside the city of Tokyo. The name of the old house was "Obake Yashiki" which means “Haunted House” as being called by the children of that time. The old house was believed to be inhabiting some ghosts of which some of them were believed to be evil. Satsuki’s father is Professor Kusakabe and looks to be very busy all the time in this Ghiblimoviesproduction. But yet, he loves his kids very much and always gives them attention. The mother of the children in this animation movie is suffering from an illness which made her not to be able to move with the family to the old house, but has been admitted to a nearby hospital. This studio Ghibli production starts to get interesting when Mei met one of the presumed spirits of nature inhabiting the “Haunted House” before the family moved in. After some interactions, Mei decides to name the biggest of the ghosts “Troll” but mispronounced it as “Totoro”. Having explained to her elder sister about her encounter and existence of Totoro and other ghosts, Satsuki decides to take the explanation as a pinch of salt initially. But when she too meets the spirits of nature at later time, she believes and spend more time with the Ghosts too. They all become good friends. The emotional feeling of this animated film from the Studioghibli gets to high gear when Mei sees her elder sister crying because she learnt that their mother has been sick. Mei decides to pay their mother a visit alone but gets lost in the process. Totoro assists Satsuki in finding her lost sister.
